As an investment for the long-term investors, gold helps enhance portfolio diversification, acts as store of value and offers a hedge against systemic risk. Since early November 2022, when gold bottomed, the safe haven asset has surged around 75%, closing above USD2,963 an ounce on February 24.
Given gold’s strong performance so far this year, alongside underperformance in other asset classes like the S&P 500 driven by factors such as shifting inflation expectations, and geopolitical uncertainties including unresolved global conflicts and trade tensions, the key question in investors’ minds is whether the yellow metal’s momentum can continue or if it is running out of steam.
