Welcome! I’m YH. I’m not a Wall Street guru or a billionaire investor in an ivory tower. Instead, I’m a dedicated professional with nearly three decades of experience navigating the global financial markets. Throughout my career, I have faced market highs and lows, always driven by a passion for helping others make informed, resilient financial decisions.
In this digital age, although I do not live in a cave, I probably stand out by not being a social media enthusiast. While most people are hooked on social media for some reasons, you will not find me posting anything on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn or Instagram.
Referred to by investors as “the offshore guy,” my career path through research and investment advisory, with detours into just about every financial buzzword imaginable, has shaped my take on the global financial landscape. I have always believed in learning and evolving, which is why I ditched some traditional jobs with the big boys in our show business in search of more rigor.
Eventually, I started forming partnerships with the best of the best in the business. Turning research into opportunities became my bread and butter — well, that and developing an insatiable appetite for data.
Founding Noble Hills Partners alongside a dream team of experienced professionals from all corners of the globe was one of my smarter moves. It shows not only adaptability or maybe I just cannot stay still but also the success we have had quietly serving an elite and diverse clientele from sophisticated investors to family offices and trusts.
My investment philosophy? Think of it as a blend of macro trends and hard data with a dash of “do not get caught up in the hype.” It is a disciplined approach, like sticking to a diet when dessert is free. The highly robust TM-IM system I rely on, backed by algorithms and artificial intelligence, has been a secret weapon in enhancing risk-adjusted returns. Really, it all boils down to delivering long-term results.
My “global office” is wherever I can find Wi-Fi and a decent cup of tea. Forget the four walls and the nine-to-five grind. Who needs those when you are armed with a laptop, a solid internet connection, and a healthy dose of financial adventure? Whether it is a beach, a bustling city, or the corner table of a café, if there is Wi-Fi, I’m in business.
From the late Charlie Munger, I have picked up a simple yet powerful career formula that has served me well. Do not sell anything you would not buy yourself, avoid working with people you do not respect and admire, and always collaborate with those you actually enjoy being around. It is like the golden rule of work.
If it does not feel right, do not do it. Following these principles has not only made my career more successful but also a lot more enjoyable.
Outside the demanding world of finance, I have found Transcendental Meditation to be an invaluable tool for cultivating inner peace and keeping stress at bay. This practice is an essential part of my holistic approach to life, recognizing that managing the markets is one thing, but managing the mind? That requires a different level of mastery, a dedication to balance that goes beyond financial gains.
Money is not everything in our lives. While financial success can open doors and provide comfort, there is more to life than money. By embracing transcendental meditation in my journey, I have come to see life’s richness in a broader sense, one that values a clear mind, and a heart at ease as the ultimate achievements.
Turning sweat into steel. Tae Kwon Do is one of the few workouts where stretching my hamstrings and kicking someone in the head with a perfectly-timed move is totally acceptable and “encouraged.” It is a workout that demands both physical precision and mental focus, forging strength, speed, and resilience.
Age is just a number unless I’m counting how many boards I have broken. Holding a black belt in Tae Kwon Do is an achievement that ensures that my body stays fit.
