Some of my clients like to tease me about this but I have never been very active on social media. I do not have a Facebook account, no Instagram, and definitely no TikTok. I did open a LinkedIn account many years ago, though for the longest time it felt more like having a library card than participating in a social platform.
Recently, I have been trying to be a little more active, mostly connecting with some people who share similar values and goals, and learning from experts who are generous enough to share their knowledge and experience.
I do watch YouTube occasionally mainly for insightful clips related to markets, economics, and meditation practice. Nothing sensational. I tend to skip anything predicting the end of the world tomorrow or the next “guaranteed” market crash before breakfast.
I still do not post selfies, holiday photos, or updates about what I had for lunch or dinner, so my activity probably will not excite the LinkedIn algorithms very much. I do try my best to reply to messages sent to me here on LinkedIn whether from existing contacts or new ones. Even when I’m busy, responding is simply good manners to me.
If I can learn something useful, exchange a few thoughtful ideas, and occasionally contribute something meaningful, that is more than enough reason for me to be here.
