After nine months warming the bench, the Federal Reserve looks all but certain to cut interest rates by a quarter-point at its upcoming meeting. Cue the angst and armchair economics.
What is stirring the pot? The economy seems headed for the odd combo platter of slower growth with higher inflation. Add in higher tariffs that are clouding the outlook, cooling activity, and quietly hiking prices and you have got plenty of fuel for debate.
