It is Labor Day in many countries, a public holiday to celebrate work by… not working. Still, I’m back writing after a stretch of meetings and heavy work. You may have noticed by now that I can work from anywhere and anytime despite having a perfectly respectable workplace somewhere in the city centre.
Well, this particular post is being written from my home office, with no need to sit in an office just to look busy or make anyone happy. Work has changed. These days, even kids do their homework online and get real-time report cards emailed straight to their parents (much to their dismay).
For those who were born a hundred years ago and cannot quite accept this new reality, yes, it is all happening fast. So, please adapt accordingly.
Whether work is done in an office, at a coffee shop, or on a sofa with a laptop nearby, the spirit remains the same. People are working hard, often just to feed their families and create a better future. For many, it takes more than effort, it takes creativity, grit, and the will to rise above mere survival especially when handouts or entitlements are not an option.
I was not born into a wealthy family, and like many others, I have had to work my way up. Along the journey, I have also faced my share of challenges, including discrimination. That is why I have deep respect for those who keep showing up, day after day, to build something better for themselves and their families.
I will be sending out a couple of emails and then calling it a day. Have a well-deserved rest today.
