I’m back at the desk after a longer stretch on the road than planned. Stepping away occasionally does have its uses. You are reminded that markets are, at some level, driven by people making decisions in real-world conditions, not by lines moving on screens or numbers flashing across terminals.
Some of the most useful conversations I had were not about buying the hottest stocks at all. They were about businesses, families, concerns, opportunities, and how people are navigating an increasingly uncertain world.
As investors, it is easy to become consumed by the daily noise. A few days away from the routine can be a useful reminder that there is a much bigger picture beyond the next headline, economic report, or market move.
Anyway, back to the usual writing. There is plenty to catch up on.
